Born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. I have been an artist
all my life, at least since I was 4 years old. Drawing people
was always my main interest. Fashion illustration became
my passion at the age of 11. I majored in Graphic Design
in college, but was always interested in fabric, clothing
illustrator for a department store in Wichita. Art was finally
my life and my living. In 1980 I moved to Dallas and began
my 20 year career with Reeves and Reeves Graphic
Design and was fortunate to work with my best friend and
learned computer skills.
I love to paint details into the pieces while allowing the silk to reveal its own ebb and flow. I find that the
“mistakes” that happen become the challenges that make my paintings even more interesting. Even
though I have the skills to do realistic paintings I choose to make a fantasy world, combining the seen
and unseen worlds, into a dreamlike image. I have painted numerous commissions for scarves and
wraps.
I am constantly inspired by my natural and rustic surroundings. I collect feathers, leaves, plants and
wildflowers from each season and take long walks in the woods. My studio is near my home in the
countryside outside of Dallas and have lived there for 25 years with my husband and many animal
friends.
I have had two one-woman shows, have shown my work in the Natural History Museum at the
Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. and am a member of Silk Painters International.
